We are seeking a Preclinical Animal Research Intern to support the development of our bioinspired neural interface platform. You will help the Preclinical research team to implement prototypes in animal models to demonstrate safety and efficacy of our technology. This is an extraordinary opportunity to join our core team to help to shape the future of our company. This position will be on-site at our animal facility in Cambridge, MA.

Key qualifications:

· Currently enrolled in a B.S./B.A. program or holds a B.S/B/A degree in animal science, biology, neuroscience, biomedical engineering, or a related field.

· Experience working with research animals, particularly rodents.

· Experience in rodent handling techniques, including restraint, acclamation, perfusion, and tissue collection.

· Familiarity with animal care protocols and maintaining animal welfare in a research setting.

· Strong organizational skills, including the ability to maintain clear, accurate, and detailed experimental notebooks.

· Ability to follow complex protocols while adapting to new procedures or revising methods as needed.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

· Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, adaptive research environment, demonstrating flexibility and initiative.

Preferred qualifications:

· Experience in studying animal behaviors and behavioral assessment in rodent models.

· Experience in neurosurgical procedures, such as craniotomy, or durotomy, in rodent models. Familiarity with brain anatomy and electrophysiology concepts.

· Understanding of regulatory and ethical considerations for working with animals in a research environment.

· Experience with immune staining, biological imaging, and related data analysis.

Your responsibilities:

· Ensure the welfare of research animals through daily monitoring and care, including some weekends and holidays with other preclinical research team members.

· Maintain accurate veterinary records, such as sentinel health reports and drug logs.

· Collaborate with the Senior Research Scientist on project progress and animal management.

· Assist in animal behavior experiments, including handling and restraining animals.

· Support brain surgery, electrophysiology and histology experiments.
