Summary

Axoft is building the most advanced infrastructure for implantable brain-machine interfaces, enabling long-term stable and ultra-high bandwidth communication with the brain. The Technical Staff, Operations role will establish and maintain the systems that enable reliable, compliant, and scalable manufacturing. You will own critical microfabrication equipment, support testing and manufacturing tools across the company, and ensure cleanroom operations meet regulatory standards. This role is ideal for someone excited to help stand up a new manufacturing space and build operational infrastructure from the ground up.

Position Overview

Axoft is seeking a Technical Staff to maintain critical microfabrication equipment, manage materials and chemicals, and ensure compliant cleanroom operations as we transition from development into controlled manufacturing. In this role you will collaborate with the Microfabrication, Operations, and Quality teams to sustain equipment uptime, coordinate vendor service, maintain audit-ready documentation, and supply data required for process control activities. You will also support process development and continuous improvement within Axoft’s microfabrication pipeline and manage equipment in Axoft’s other manufacturing spaces.

Your work will directly enable Axoft’s next-generation neural interfaces by ensuring stable, repeatable, microfabrication processes that meet regulated manufacturing standards. You will have end-to-end ownership of equipment uptime, documentation and vendor coordination, with autonomy to improve processes and propose upgrades.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with maintaining complex equipment, regulated manufacturing, and process development. Experience in semiconductor manufacturing is valuable but not required.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Ownership & Maintenance

• Serve as primary owner for tools related to semiconductor manufacturing such as mask aligners, maskless aligners, spin-coaters, etchers, and thin film deposition systems.

• Calibrate and maintain testing equipment in hardware and chemical manufacturing spaces.

• Perform routine preventative maintenance, calibrations, and basic troubleshooting to maximize equipment uptime.

• Manage vendor service contracts and track maintenance activities.

• Maintain equipment logs, spare parts inventories, and documentation required for audit-ready operation.

• Provide Quality with equipment records, calibration data, and tool performance information supporting IQ/OQ/PQ, MSA, and process capability assessments.

• Ensure equipment documentation meets QMS requirements and supports internal/external inspections.
  

Lab Operations, Materials & Waste Management

• Oversee daily operations of the cleanroom, including environmental monitoring.

• Manage consumables inventory, including ordering, tracking, SDS documentation, and proper storage.

• Ensure gowning materials, PPE, wipes, and consumables are stocked and organized.

• Handle chemical waste, sharps, and general lab waste streams in accordance with EHS requirements.

• Support cleanroom protocols, inspections, spill preparedness, and general safety infrastructure.

• Partner with Quality to maintain compliant documentation, environmental monitoring, and audit readiness.

• Ensure cleanroom operations align with Axoft’s regulated QMS and support traceability and documentation control.

• Perform inspections of incoming material for manufacturing.
  

Vendor & Contract Management

• Maintain relationships with equipment vendors, facilities partners, and service providers.

• Evaluate new vendors, tools, and service options as Axoft’s fabrication capabilities expand.

• Coordinate with Quality to ensure new equipment or services meet qualification and documentation requirements.

Process Support & Development

• Assist engineers with developing, optimizing, and documenting semiconductor processes including performing design-of-experiments and implementing statistical process control.

• Run test samples, collect data, and support experiments aimed at improving yield, stability, and repeatability.

• Contribute to process documentation, best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Provide operational data for SPC, yield tracking, Cp/Cpk studies, and MSA.

• Work with Quality to ensure process changes and experiments are documented in controlled formats and aligned with process-control strategies.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or demonstrated expertise gained through significant industry experience.
  

Experience

• 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing environments.

• Hands-on experience with maintenance of complex equipment, cleanroom operations, or tool ownership.

• Experience supporting process development or manufacturing scale-up is a plus.

• Familiarity with IQ/OQ/PQ, process validation, or process control activities is a plus.

Skills

• Familiarity with cleanroom protocols and chemical handling requirements.
